What makes some of them so aggressive, some won't defend themselves and everything in-between? Is it breeding? Is it chance? Is it personality? Is it environment? Some people think that a game bred dog will be more aggressive then a dog who isn't game bred? Or maybe that a game bred dog may be more likely to be aggressive? More determined? More apt not to quit if they were in a fight? I've seen APBTs from all "walks of life" and different breedings (even mixed dogs) that are dog aggressive. I've heard to many of times the stories of pet bull owners (who don't have game bred dogs), that have left their dogs unsupervised to find one dead or both badly injured. Others have thought their sweet, non aggressive APBT wasn't capable of harming another dog, but one day does and doesn't quit. What is behind them that makes them dog aggressive? Other breeds are also prone to dog aggression. What makes some dogs have it and other dogs don’t?
Breeding fighting dogs and breeding show dogs can potentially yield the same results as far as dog aggression. Breeding a none aggressive dog can produce a litter of aggressive dogs. Breeding an aggressive dog can get you non aggressive pups. Is it hereditary? Only certain lines? Certain dogs paired together? The way you raise them? Life experience that effects that dog? I have seen dogs that wouldn't fight, but sadly these dogs had broken spirits and were abused into not ever even thinking of standing up for themselves in any manner. Of course every non aggressive Pit Bull I've seen hasn't been beaten or abused, they are just not aggressive. But dogs that would have wanted to, dogs that may have started weren't just corrected or put through behavior modification, these dogs were abused IMO, they weren't made only to be afraid to fight other dogs but they were made afraid of their own shadow.
I've owned APBTs bred for different purposes, different temperaments and aggression levels of the parents, from different bloodlines, ect and the only thing I've been able to find consistent if the non consistency in aggression levels.
